Great Rising Your Highnesses, 𓂀 hope you are exceedingly well. Children of the Sun 𓂀 invite you, The All, to ring Mother Earth’s Great Bell. I love making music, especially on alto saxophone, and I’m really excited about creating and cultivating my own sound, afrofuturistic SoulFusion music genre, ya dig. This particular piece, however, is to answer a very specific question I’m constantly asked, “Why do they call you Mr Black Power?” The truth is, there are six reasons.
The first reason is the embodiment of my afrofuturistic aesthetic in my music. My afrofuturistic SoulFusion sound is a unique sonic experience defined by deep, rumbling bass lines, with percussive grooves, slick melodies, and melodic metaphors. To Know for certain, you gotta put it on your tympanic membrane.
The second reason is my lifestyle. Everyone who knows me knows I love my Brothers and Sisters of The Black Diaspora! Black Is Beautiful and we are the Origin of the Seven Sciences, the 42 Ideals of Ma’at, and all that exists in Humanity. One of the great follies of our world is Humanity has forgotten many times over all we’ve invented over the last two megaannum. My travels all over the world enlightened me to the global magnificence of who we are as a people and how we are so beautiful, intelligent, passionate, and unique. I already knew, but to actually travel the world and see the influences of my genetic code all over the world Awakened and Quickened my spirit. My appreciation for the variety and complexities of our differences, and their perfect juxtaposition to our warmth and enchantingly familiar ways, will always ignite my curiosity and a sense of pride, hope, and love within me. This Love for Us, for who I am, permeates my being and breathes truth, life, and healing into my music. My style, the way I move through the world, even the way I greet people, with a warm smile, a “Black Power”, and a quick fist salute, is an appreciation for our Strength, Love, Unity, and Excellence. Besides, the “Black Power Salute” is the coolest earthling ritual greeting since the Egyptians’ use of “Amun,” and their infamous “42 Ideals of Ma’at.”
Another aspect of the “Black Power Lifestyle” is my insistence on living by a “Black Code.” The code is simple: Know Thyself, master the Seven Sciences, master One’s gifts and give them back to the universe, follow the Laws Of Ma’at, Buy Black First, and give no gift to those who mistreat the children of Alkebulan. I am a a Being of integrity. I live by an Ancient Code from the distant future but it works for me and keeps me focused on what I came here to do.
The third reason I am called “Mr Black Power” is because I’m a Black United States Air Force Veteran and I’ve survived over nine brutal attacks by corrupt racist US Law Enforcement. As a repeat victim of police brutality, I survived many violent attacks by the DCMPD, FBI, and Fairfax County Police… nine times in the last 15 years. Six of those brutally violent racist attacks since 2017 were at the hands of racist and corrupt officers of the DCMPD, who not only violated US Code Title 18 section 241-242 (Deprivation of Rights under color of law), but also violated my unalienable rights protected by the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution. Everytime the DCMPD beat me up, they charge me with US Felony Threat, kidnapping, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, failure to obey, and a host of other charges in order to slander my character, falsely arrest, and falsely imprison me. I’ve been tortured on four occasions by US Law Enforcement. DCMPD violating my rights has made the news several times. Over the years, Washington City Paper, and Newsweek published articles on the story of how I was brutally attacked by DCMPD in my own home, without warrant or probable cause, when Officer Matthew “nigger-beating” Nickerson & Officer “Maniac” Milsapp (both have an extensive history of racist violence on the DCMPD), and at least eight other officers illegally, forcibly entered my home, attacked me, handcuffed me, and then tasered me while handcuffed. These news outlets also reported on my confronting the Mayor on national television regarding these beatings. Yet, none of these officers were punished for their brutality. As a matter of fact, when I asked Mayor Bowser at a press conference what she intends to do about the mental health of victims of police brutality, she said she doesn’t support police who break the rules, however, she awarded Ofc. Nickerson, the racist violent officer who led the attack in my home, a Ribbon of Valor nine months after he and his fellow officers did just that. Worse, officers who were associated with the same 7th precinct officers who were caught on video on my sons toy camera dealing drugs and guns to 16 and 17yr old kids in the park behind our old apartment in 2020, but no officers were arrested then either, despite news articles reporting on cops dealing drugs and guns in SE DC. Instead eight DCMPD officer came by my home on bicycles and threatened to kill my son wanted if I didn’t plead guilty to the false “resisting arrest” charges I was hit with the corrupt pig cops raided my house without a warrant. As a result of these brutal attacks I’ve filed multiple complaints with DC Office of Police Complaints, DC City Council, the Office of the Mayor Muriel Bowser, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes-Norton, The US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, The US President, and the Vice President, and the United Nations Human Rights Council. These agencies have done nothing to help stop the violation. Of my rights so I’ve filed civil suits against the city and the police department. Martin Luther King once said,’Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” and if this level of injustice is happening five miles from the halls of congress then the injustices of amerikkka’s racist police brutality is happening everywhere and needs to stop.
In restrospect, the reason I am called Mr Black Power is because I believe in The Black Code, Black Magik, and our Soul Endeavor. I believe in the formula: Black Love multiplied by Black Excellence by Black Unity equals Power, and like Erykah Badu so eloquently stated a few moons back,”You matter, until you multiply yourself by the speed of light squared, then u r energy.” As for the police brutality, Judge Sean Staples noted in a hearing December 6th 2017, that the DCMPD was violating my rights and ordered the DC MPD to stand down the harassment as well as all surveillance. DC MPD is presently disobeying that notice and order. As recently as July 2024, I called 911 due to a home invasion only to be assaulted by violent racist Officer Novoa, and several officers from the 6th precinct and again April 5th when police dragged me out of my bed in the middle of the night and arrested me on hearsay and false allegations of domestic violence. Behind the latest police brutality against me, I was again charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, assault with a deadly weapon, and felonious strangulation, all charges I am not guilty of. Victory is assured. Soon, I’ll win this case, and then I’ll win the lawsuit I filed against these corrupt law enforcement officials all the while making beautiful music. To date, I even turned the body worn camera footage of police officers beating on me naked and wet from the shower into a music video short film, “126 The All Seeing Eye’s Revenge (T.A.S.E.R.)” to bear witness to these evil men and the villainous entities that support and enable them then turn a blind eye to our suffering at the hands of the brutal racist violence.
Angela Davis was right when she said, ‘Freedom is a constant struggle.” It’s worth it. I stand in my own Truth, and in authenticity, and with all the oppressed people of the world when I greet my people with my signature Black Power salute. I yearn for the day when we remove the boot of this evil oppressor from our necks and embrace a future of peace and prosperity for all.
Gratitude to all of my listeners, lightbringers, Earthlings, and extraterrestrials for listening to my music and special gratitude to my family and friends for supporting me on this journey. To Kijani, Belai, JP, and Sevyn I love and miss you.
